Sculptra®

 

Sculptra® is an injectable product that restores and corrects the signs of facial fat loss by replacing lost volume. Facial fat loss, or lipoatrophy, is the loss of fat beneath the skin, resulting in sunken cheeks, indentations, and hollow eyes. Sculptra provides a gradual and significant increase in skin thickness, improving the appearance of folds and sunken areas.

The results from Sculptra® are not immediate, but they are long-lasting. In a clinical study, effects lasted for up to two years after the first treatment session in most patients. No skin testing is required.

 

Restylane®

 

Restylane® is an injectable dermal filler used for smoothing out facial wrinkles. It is a biodegradable gel composed of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance occurring within the body. In addition to adding fullness to the skin, Restylane attracts water molecules to the injection site, further enhancing its effectiveness.

 

Restylane provides noticeable results immediately after injection, although it may take a few days for swelling to subside. Day-to-day activities can be resumed immediately afterward, with no downtime necessary. Additional Restylane injections should be administered about 4 to 8 months later to maintain its effects.

 

There are minimal complications associated with Restylane. The compound is derived from bacterial origins, so most allergies should not be an issue (unless specific to bacterial proteins). Side effects may include slight redness, minor swelling, and mild discomfort, which usually subside within three days as the body adjusts to the new hyaluronic acid. Patients should refrain from rubbing or massaging the treated area for approximately 48 hours.

 

Dysport®

 

Dysport® is an FDA-approved injection used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by relaxing facial muscles in the forehead. Similar to BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport is injected directly into the wrinkle site to prevent the underlying muscles from contracting. Dysport injections are made from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, the same protein used in Botox injections.

 

Dysport injections are ideal for nearly anyone wishing to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face and restore a younger, more refreshed appearance. The injections are administered directly into the facial muscles that cause frown lines and other wrinkles; these injections are generally painless, with no need for anesthesia. Treatment sessions typically take less than 15 minutes and are administered at six-week intervals. Three to five injections are usually required to achieve desired results.

 

Dysport injections are generally safe, although there are certain risks associated with any procedure. These risks include soreness and bruising for several hours after treatment, an allergic reaction, or ptosis (eyelid droopiness). The risk of complications can be reduced by choosing a qualified physician for your procedure.

 

Perlane®

 

Perlane® is an injectable filler used to treat deep facial lines, augment the lips and contour the cheeks and chin. Made by the same company that produces Restylane®, Perlane contains purified hyaluronic acid, a sugar found naturally in the body that works with collagen to keep the skin smooth and supple. It is hypoallergenic and does not require a pre-treatment skin test. With its unique ability to bind with water, Perlane continues to perform up to 60% longer than collagen.
